With a long history in design and visual effects, filmmaker Toby Wilkins brings his unique talents to feature film, television and short films for the big and small screens.

Since 1999 his short films have received recognition at the most prestigious film festivals including Sundance, where several of his works have premiered. Including the off-beat comedy I Lost 20lbs In Two Months, Ask Me How (2002) and award winning thriller Staring at the Sun (2005) which played at more than 25 festivals around the world.

In 2006 Toby teamed with writer Ben Acker to create Kidney Thieves, a dark comedy based on the popular urban legend. The film won the Audience Award for Best Short Film at the Austin Film Festival and has been playing the festival circuit including AFI, Cinequest, and WWSF Toronto, Just For Laughs, and many more.

After winning ScreamFest's Best Horror Short award for Staring at the Sun, Toby's work came to the attention of Sam Raimi (Evil Dead, Spider Man) and his horror production company Ghost House Pictures who commissioned Toby to create several short-form projects including (click titles to watch):

Mousetrap [watch] - a shocking cautionary tale about sticking your nose where it doesn’t belong.

Tales of the Grudge [watch] - a series of short horror films to bring to audiences the untold stories of The Grudge. (Read the MoviesOnline interview in which Toby talks about this and other projects)

Devil's Trade [watch] - a pioneering short-form horror series for Comcast's FearNet On-Demand. It is still the highest rated title (of any kind) on FearNet.com.

Then in October 2007 Ghost House announced that Toby would direct the third installment of their phenomenally successful horror franchise The Grudge. Nearing completion The Grudge 3 (Variety) will be Toby's second feature film, following closely behind his debut, the indie creature movie Splinter (Variety) starring Shea Whigham, Paulo Costanzo, and Jill Wagner. Both films are set to be released in late 2008.
