With a background in graphic design and visual effects, filmmaker Toby Wilkins brings his unique talents to feature film, television and short films for the big and small screens.

Since 1999 his short films have received recognition at some of the most prestigious film festivals around the world. In 2008 his first feature film, the indie shocker Splinter (starring Shea Whigham, Paulo Costanzo, and Jill Wagner) will premiere at ScreamFestLA as the festival's Centerpiece Film, and opens in theatres on Halloween.

This theatrical debut will be followed by The Grudge 3 for Ghost House Pictures, which continutes the smash hit Sony horror franchise based on the Japanese Ju-On films.

Prior to launching into features, Wilkins' off-beat comedy short I Lost 20lbs In Two Months, Ask Me How (2002) and ScreamFest award winning short thriller Staring at the Sun (2005) both premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, and played at dozens more around the world.

In 2006 Kidney Thieves, a dark comedy based on the popular urban legend, won the Audience Award for Best Short Film at the Austin Film Festival, Best Short Film at the Omaha Film Festival, and played at AFI, Cinequest, WWSF Toronto, Just For Laughs, and many more.

In 2005 Wilkins' work came to the attention of Sam Raimi (Evil Dead, Spider Man) and his horror production company Ghost House Pictures who before choosing him to helm The Grudge 3, commissioned Toby to create several short-form projects including:

Mousetrap [watch] - a shocking cautionary tale about sticking your nose where it doesn’t belong.

Tales of the Grudge [watch] - a series of short horror films to bring to audiences the untold stories of The Grudge. (Read the MoviesOnline interview in which Toby talks about this and other projects)

Devil's Trade [watch] - a pioneering short-form horror series for Comcast's FearNet On-Demand. It is still the highest rated title (of any kind) on FearNet.com.
